Dior Designer Kris Van Assche returns this season with a collection that addresses two major points: merging streetwear and formal wear on the one hand, and experimenting with pattern and daring material on the other. The result is an intriguing collection. Well-tailored suits are accented with single vertical lines, or a soft sprinkle of polka dots. Some pieces, even neckties, are decorated with lovely white muguet blossoms.
As the show progressed, the pieces became edgier in design and material. Van Assche incorporated voluminous fur coats, oversized pockets on the jacket, large surfaces of black leather, as well as a ‘patched-up’ sort of look where alternative patterns are used to create one piece. Jean-blue and army-green were both incorporated heavily in the designed in both accents and material colour, bringing to mind a rougher streetwear look.
